After Delivery: The Blood Tests New Mothers in Gurugram Shouldn't Skip

Every new mother is exhausted. But exhaustion that doesn't improve, breathlessness climbing stairs, or hair falling in handfuls deserves a blood test rather than a shrug.

    The Six-Week Postpartum Panel

    • CBC and Serum Ferritin — blood loss during delivery leaves many mothers anaemic for months
    • Thyroid Profile (TSH, T3, T4) — postpartum thyroiditis is common and very treatable
    • Vitamin D and B12 — pregnancy and breastfeeding deplete both
    • Fasting sugar / HbA1c — essential if you had gestational diabetes; up to half of those women develop type 2 diabetes later
    • Blood pressure — particularly if you had pre-eclampsia or PIH

    Why Each Matters

Anaemia and hypothyroidism both look exactly like "new-mum tiredness", and both directly affect mood and milk supply. Untreated low vitamin D shows up as back and joint pain that mothers put down to carrying the baby.

    If You Had Gestational Diabetes

Get a fasting sugar or 75g OGTT at 6–12 weeks after delivery, then an HbA1c every year. This is the single most valuable follow-up test in this list.

Do It Without Leaving the Baby

All of these come from one morning sample. Our phlebotomists collect at home across Sohna Road, Sector 67, Nirvana Country and Golf Course Extension Road, with digital reports usually the same day — book home collection or call +91 92663 33711.
